David personally selects, harvests and mills all of
the lumber he uses in his work. The wood is native to the southern
region of Illinois where David’s shop and farm are located, and most of
the lumber is harvested from family forests that David stewards himself
to ensure proper sustainability and management. David culls only dead
and dying trees, allowing new growth to flourish. He also works with
local arborists to ensure that their lumber is properly utilized.
David is a founding member of the Sustainable
Furniture Council and a member of the Furniture Society, the St. Louis
Craft Alliance and the American Craft Council.
